“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera”

-Dorothea Lange

Anthony “Tony’ Alvarez sees photography as much more than simply pretty pictures. Each image holds its own form of power, telling and directing its story to viewers. So in the words of Uncle Ben “With great power, comes great responsibility”. Tony’s purpose as an artist and photographer is to start complex conversations in regards to those that are overlooked, misrepresented, and oppressed.

Tony Alvarez is a photographer living and working in the DMV and Baltimore areas. He’s received his MFA in the Photography, Media, + Society program at Maryland Institute college of Art working under and along side thought leader Bill Gaskins. His Undergraduate degree was earned at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. He has experience in all forms of photography such as portraits, headshots, sports, events, and Fine arts
